The Rocky Mountain News has the latest on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gary Lindstrom, who says he’s in the race for the long haul:
For Colorado Democrats to unite quickly behind a single candidate for governor, former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter is going to have to drop out of the race.
That’s the word from state Rep. Gary Lindstrom, of Breckenridge, who said he’s in the race to stay and believes he can get the requisite 30 percent of the votes at the party’s May 20 state convention to make it onto the primary ballot. “I’m in it for the long haul, unless something changes,” Lindstrom said. “I can’t imagine what that might be.
“I made a commitment three months ago when I filed my papers with the secretary of state to stay in it at least through the primary.”
And so while Ritter is the presumed nominee, having dodged potential challenges from Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and House Majority Leader Alice Madden, Lindstrom hasn’t given up. And won’t, he insists.
Lindstrom has no chance of being the Democratic nominee for governor, but his inclusion in the race does matter…for control of the State House. If Lindstrom continues to chase his tail running for governor and does not run for re-election to his seat in Summit County, his seat becomes a risk to turn Republican.

Mr. Lindstrom has imgaination, but no money, no organization, no ideas, no message and no hope. It must sound kind of nice to hear he is a candidate for governor, but he is this in name only. Pack it in and stay in the statehouse.
Net one seat for the House GOP.
I like seeing a Primary. It gives good exposure to the candidates as long as it remains civil.
I have changed my moniker to reflect that the graying process is complete…
Lindstrom is the most highly qualified of any of the candidates for governor. Holtzman and Beauprez got rich. Beauprez can, presumably, run an office, maybe even a bank. Ritter can run an office and knows law. Lindstrom can run a government and has done so. Do you realize the growth issues that Summit County faced while he was a commissioner?
Gary has ideas, hear him out. Write to him and start placing demands on him for a plan to manage growth, I think you’ll hear back from him and you’ll hear inspiration, not hopelessness.
Gary is a liberal, yet when the Forest Service was looking to throw squatters out of the forest in and around Summit County, Gary was the one who said “Let them stay, these are working people, not bums (paraphrase)”.
We need someone like Lindstom to be Governor more than he needs the work.
Gary Lindstrom
It looks like everyone in the state knows that Gary Lindstrom doesn’t have a chance at winning the Democratic nomination for Colorado Governor. Well, everyone but Gary Lindstrom, that is. Lindstrom is staying in the race ’til he’s kn…
